Freelance journalist, writer and traveller, sometimes overly-excited by Basque pintxos, a good plate of mei goreng, Bornean jungle ferns, stinky cheeses and scones with clotted cream (though obviously not all at the same time), I have visited, lived and worked in a range of countries on a bunch of continents. I’ve covered civil wars, earthquakes, fraudulent elections, bank runs and dodgy investment projects, as well as camel wrestling, film festivals, and the Cambodian baguette.
Plus some other stuff, too.
Carrying both British and Irish passports, I’m currently dividing time between Scotland, Spain, Turkey and the Middle East – mostly – with occasional trips out to Malaysia and Thailand, too.
Apparently, I have five planets in Sagittarius.
I’ll also work for food – provided it’s black truffles.
